Year 5 had a fantastic time learning some new cookery skills at the workshops kindly provided by Nourish and Flourish. All the children had a chance to make vegetable curry using surplus vegetables, and they chose their favourites to wash, chop and prepare in order to mix with spices, pulses if they wished, and either coconut milk or chopped tomatoes to turn into a curry. After cooking their food, they also got to wash up, which some likened to having a bubble bath! The feedback was incredibly positive, and all children loved the experience.
"I can't believe we made something edible!" Penny
"I'm so proud of myself!" Poppie
Now they know they can do it - ask them to do it again at home!
Many thanks to the Nourish and Flourish Team who are providing Year 5 with further opportunities this term , and will be at Sports Day to talk to parents. Also thanks to SBS for providing the space, and especially the helpers we had from the school. Nice to see a couple of familiar faces!
