High 5 Garrick Shield Semis and Final
Both high five teams travelled to South Moreton hopeful that one of our teams would return with the shield. The A team played South Moreton, whilst the B team played Chilton. The A team played fantastically, fast and furious throughout, unfortunately, so did South Moreton. We were in the lead for most of the match, but it was always close. Then in the final quarter they played their ace card – a giant! He was rather good at goal scoring and they levelled and then took the lead. The final score was 8-7 to them.
Whilst the B team were playing South Moreton, the A team played Chilton to decide 3rd and 4th places. In the first quarter we went behind – for only the second time ever! Joel took charge and headed for the net. He took his shot so powerfully that the whole ring crashed onto a Chilton player! Having remembered to stop the clock, we checked their player was ok to continue – he wasn't. Later, having had the goal post repaired we played on. Another tussle, and another player of theirs off court, we continued to score goals. Sadly, Mrs Manthorpe has lost the book with the scores in but it was something like 13 – 7.

B team v's Chilton: The B team's first match was against Chilton in the semi-finals. This was a difficult match but we scrapped through winning 8-7. Yey - we were through to the finals! We then heard the bad news from the A team that they'd lost their semi-final match and that we faced the team that beat them in the finals. We knew it was going to be tough.
The B team v's South Moreton in the Finals: This was not an easy match and it wasn't obvious which team would win. Things seemed pretty level until the third quarter when Jordan scored 7 fantastic goals. After this, we knew we ere in with a big chance of winning as long as we didn't let South Moreton get any more goals in. Our defence gave 100% in the last quarter and we survived and won! It was an amazing match where all players had to work their hardest and as a team to win.
Sue Acreman, in charge of organising the event, praised our play and our players. It was a superb afternoon which everyone enjoyed.
