The day we went to Hill End

Class 8 travelled back 2,000 years on Wednesday to become Britons (Celts) and Romans. We looked at artefacts including a bum sponge, real roman coins and a gladius short-sword.

Next, the Celts went to their village and explored Boudicca’s (Tea’s) round house. The Roman General (Charlie) commanded the Romans to set up a temporary camp, from where the scouts found the Celt village.  The Romans went on a tax raid for wheat, gold and weapons!

The Celts fought back with weapons from another tribe and challenged the Romans.

In the final battle, both the Romans and Celts fought bravely to protect Boudicca and the General. It was a close shave, but in the decider battle the Romans were victorious!

Edina Bulb Project 2017 launched by Year 3

Today we planted bulbs for a scientific experiment . We are going to observe our pots every day. We will record what rain has fallen, what the temperature is, if bugs have eaten our plants and how tall they have grown. We will also let Edina Trust know when each one flowers!

All our pots are next to the fence near the pond. You are welcome to check how they are doing. If you would like to track us and the other 167 schools taking part, you can look up the project at www.

Ollie said, “It was really fun.  I loved putting the bulbs in and I think I’ll love seeing them grow too.”
“A lot of people got a little bit messy, but we had a lot of fun.” said Kamdilichi.

Thank you to our amazing helpers from Gardening club – Emilia, Olivia, Sophie, Amelia and Katie.

Fantastic Fairy Tales

Year 3 celebrated all our hard work on fairy tales this term, dressing up as our favourite characters to host our parents at an open classroom. Thank you to all that were able to attend and who helped the children look amazing today.

In Design & Technology this term, we have been learning to make healthy sandwiches, safely and hygienically.  We showed off our skills this afternoon by making the sandwiches we had planned and sharing them with our parents. Maybe we did too good a job… there’s no excuse for not making our own packed lunches now!

Trying out our tennis skills

Year 3 had a taster of tennis this afternoon, practising our ball control and racket swings. We now have a number of budding tennis fans!

Kamdi and Ollie said, “Our tennis trial was lots of fun.” At the end of the session, our sports leader Matt spoke to the children about trying with nets at the club.  They both thought that sounded like even more fun.

Brilliant Book Corners

Friday 6th September
Year 3 topic - decorating our book corner!

We painted Hansel and Gretel's house. We mixed the colours to make a new colour. It was really fun. I helped everybody with their painting - I was doing the sky with a friend. We painted a Rapunzel tower as well. Written by Paige.

Class 8 did a lot of art! We all went into groups. I painted Rapunzel's hair with a friend, using a sponge. After that, I painted the trees with a new group. Written by Kamdilichi.

Hi, my name is Kidest. This year we have been decorating our story corner. I worked with my friend to do Rapunzel's hair. I also did a little work on Hansel and Gretel's house, and I helped my friend do the beanstalk.  Just in time, I made tree paper chains before we had to tidy up.

We hope you will be able to come and see our brilliant book corner very soon.
