Ni Hao (Hello!) from China

Mrs. Li-Koo's visit to China to set up international links with a partner school was positive and promising. There were ceremonial opening and closing ceremonies, conferences, school visits, welcome banquets and lots of speech-making but most importantly of all friendships formed and partnerships initiated.

Ladygrove Park's partner, Donghui Primary School in Changsha, was very warm and welcoming. Mrs. Li-Koo was given a tour of the school and its excellent facilities such as the newly built art exhibition room, the new dedicated badminton hall and the sensory garden planted with traditional chinese medicine plants. She participated in English and Chinese lessons, lead some sessions including teacher and children discussion groups and observed a range of other lessons including Art and PSHE. Wonderful creativity was demonstrated in an inspiring art exhibition as well as a recorder recital for which the school is renowned in the area and wins many awards.

Arrangements have been made, following detailed discussions, for the children in both schools to start communicating with each other and learn more about each others' countries, language and cultures.

We hope that this will be the beginning of a mutually beneficial, sustained partnership and a long-lasting friendship.
