Welcome Principal Xiong!

To meet an old friend in a distant country is like the delight of rain after a long drought.
(Chinese proverb)

We have a very special visitor in school this week: the Headteacher of our Chinese partner school, Principal Xiong, has come all the way from China to spend the week with us. She is here to meet the children and teaching staff, find out about teaching and learning in England and, most importantly, plan with us how to take the partnership project forward and further strengthen the friendship links we have established.

Principal Xiong was given a detailed tour of the school by Rory and Hollie and was very interested and impressed with everything she has seen so far. She was welcomed by all the children in assembly with an excited 'Ni Hao!' (hello in Chinese) and treated to a demonstration of Chinese language and culture learnt by a group of our Year 6 children.  This included song and dance as well as arts and crafts activities which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Thanks to one of our parents, Ms Chen, for her invaluable help with translating.

Principal Xiong will be joining us again in school tomorrow for a busy programme of activities!
