It's "Staff v Kids" again!

Unfortunately the game started with Mrs Tucker running with ball, so the whistle blew – not a great start for the staff! Emily managed to get two goals past Mrs Carter and Mrs Wraith, so the children went into a 2 nil lead. Miss Scammel put up a spirited defence against Harry, however he managed to get one through the hoop. In the next part of the game both of the six foot students were on court at the same time. The children used some intelligent strategies – like the bounce pass and short passes – to gain the advantage. Mr Wright appeared not to understand the obstruction rule and repeatedly fouled the children. Both Jacks took full advantage and scored two goals. During the next 6th, Mrs Tucker was heard to remark that she thought the umpire was biased, however Mrs Manthorpe dismissed the suggestion. Connor scored the 7th goal of the game in less than 10 seconds after the whistle – surely a record? Mr Alexander, despite not knowing the rules, played a skilful game and scored the first goal for the staff, to rapturous applause from the assembled non-playing staff. Ignoring the calls for oxygen, the game continued – Jack broke the contact rule – with which staff are now VERY familiar – and gave away a penalty pass, but reprieved himself by scoring a fantastic goal. In the final 6th, Mrs Addison (who had clearly been having lessons from her eldest son) shot at the hoop twice – the first curled around the hoop and fell off the back, the second scored. Magnificent teamwork led to a further two goals for the children, scored by Hannah. Congratulations to the children, who played an imaginative, well-structured game and demonstrated many of the skills they have learnt over the past year. Thanks also to the staff for taking part and accepting some decisions, which in other matches may have been considered ever so slightly dubious!!
