They were given a series of codes which substituted letters for symbols or numbers and were asked to write messages in code for each other to solve.
They also did some invisible writing using lemon juice. They wrote messages home which turned invisible when dry....In order to reveal the messages, they just need to be placed somewhere hot e.g. a warm oven - with parental supervision of course!
