More sporting triumphs

Here are two reports for after-school matches:

Football team versus Cholsey School.
Ladygrove needed a win in the last match of the first stages of the Vale 7-a-side tournament to stand a chance of geting through to the semi-finals. The match started tensely with no side having the advantage. It was 10 minutes before the first goal, a cracking shot on the turn by our young year 5 signing James (J-T). And that opened the floodgates. It was 3-0 by half time and 7-0 by the end with more goals from Joel, Ben and JT again. The team played better than in all their previous matches and deserved the victory.

High 5 B team versus Fir Tree.

Fir Tree caught the B team half-dressed with their early arrival! Regaining their dignity hastily, they began some shooting practice. Mrs Manthorpe secretly hoped they'd do better in the match! The first quarter passed extremely quickly with a flurry of 4 goals – all to Ladygrove. During the second quarter a further goal from Ladygrove looked promising. Just as the B team started to rest on their laurels, Fir Tree scored a well-deserved goal. Their play was excellent and they clawed back another goal in the final quarter. Of course, the B team fought back and marked well. The dynamic Dans (B and C) put in excellent performances, and Gemma continued to score goals. The final scoreline of 7-2 reflected the confident, competitive teamwork of the B team – who, for this game were mainly from Year 5.
