Garrick League – Finals Day

On a glorious, sunny day we met Stephen Freeman in the semi-final. Into the hoop Jack planted SIX goals in the first quarter – six goals in six minutes – a pretty fabulous start! During the next quarter, the ball went back and forth an awful lot, but neither team scored. The third quarter saw Emily as centre – she did a fantastic job feeding balls to both Rosie and Sam. Rosie was the first to score and then Sam netted four. The final quarter saw Stephen Freeman pull out a well-deserved goal, despite solid defence from Sam and Rosie. However, Ladygrove weren't about to sit back on their laurels – Emily netted two fantastic goals, even though she was shooting into the sun. Then Jack, always one to lead by example, netted a further two. The result ended at Ladygrove 15 Stephen Freeman 1. We were in the final for the fourth year running!

Our opponents were none other than Harwell who we knew to be a force with which to be reckoned! Another display of excellent team-play saw Hannah score the first (well-deserved) goal, followed by two from Jack. The next quarter saw Rob in a shooting position along with Ebonie – the two of them worked well together and Rob scored a superb goal. Despite excellent defence Harwell managed to claw one back. Sam scored three in the next quarter and Rosie put one through the hoop, again Harwell got one. Once again Jack, our very talented captain, scored another three, and Emily got the final goal of the game. The final score was 12 to us and 4 to Harwell.

GARRICK LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!

Well done to ALL the players - who played amazingly well despite the heat, and whose behaviour was, as always, a credit to them. Thank you to Ms. Manthorpe for superb coaching and Ms Nutt for helping with transport, first aid and photography.
