Fun at the river

Children from classes 12 and 13 have been on a trip to Earthwatch at Little Wittenham this week. As part of their River topics, they were learning about why rivers have locks.
The children had two guides who led them on a walk across the bridges over the Thames to look at the locks and the boats. They learnt that "if there weren't any locks all the water would go down to London and the sea and you wouldn't be able to use it."
Next was a game of Poohsticks, then lunch (inside out of the sun) before a fun afternoon at the top of Wittenham Clumps field sketching, playing hide and seek and den building. The children's verdict was that the day had been "exciting, fun and energetic!"
Our thanks to the parent helpers to came along on the trips.
