Super Sleuths in Year 3!

This morning staff in year 3 arrived to find that a crime had taken place!
Somebody had been into our art area and stolen our electric pencil sharpener.

We quickly sealed off the crime scene which was covered in clues including footprints, hand prints and pencil sharpenings.

When the children arrived they were set the task of solving the crime and looking for evidence around the school. They soon put together a list of suspects.

It wasn't long before they discovered other clues around the school including a "sorry note" left in Sally's letterbox and a TA order form for a new pencil sharpener that was covered in the same finger prints as the crime scene.

Children were able to eliminate suspects from their list by interviewing them and looking at their shoes to see if they matched the footprints left. They also narrowed their suspect list down to the TA's who worked in after school club after cracking a coded letter that was left suspiciously in our art area.

Finally the teams of detectives reviewed their evidence and narrowed it down to 1 suspect each: Most believed it was Mrs Addison however a few children did guess the real suspect Mrs Warwick!

All was well in the end as Mrs Warwick explained that she had borrowed the pencil sharpener and accidentally left the mess that she had intended to clear up. She was very sorry for causing so much of a problem!!
