Year 5 Greek Day

Year 5 have spent a fantastic day as Athenian children, living life as it would have been in the Year 490BC.

The children were able to learn what life would have been like at the Agora (marketplace) and learnt valuable Greek skills and crafts from their masters and mistresses, before presenting them at the goddess Athene's altar to be blessed.

It looks like a Spartan warrior might have snuck in for a bit of sculpture
In the afternoon the children were able to take part in a performance of Greek theatre, and were even fortunate enough to have their banquet served to them by some slaves!

We all enjoyed our food at the banquet

The slaves did a great job!

Many thanks to the 'masters and mistresses' who came into school in the morning to help teach the children their skills and crafts - we couldn't have done it without you!

Take a look at the Year 5 blog for more photos.
