High 5 Garrick League Finals

The team – who represented everyone in the high 5 club today – travelled to meet our scariest opponents, Fir Tree School, Wallingford. Fir Tree had, in previous games, shown that they were very worthy finalists. Dan again captained the team, and led by example – finding space, intercepting balls and passing accurately throughout the match and scoring goals. Jordan – always at her strongest in shooting positions – assisted Dan ably and scored herself, Mirren was great at making sure they had good ball to work with. By the end of the first quarter, Ladygrove were 5-1 up. During the second quarter, the team were tested by Fir Tree who, it has to be said, had most of the play and pulled back another 2 goals. Luckily Matthew was on hand to score one for us. The 3rd quarter saw James on his best form, scoring 3 magnificent goals, helped by Becky. Katie was kept busy running from one end to another, as Fir Tree also scored 2. The final quarter saw Dan back in a goal-shooting role, this time with Katie. Fir Tree were certainly finding their form and scored a further 2 goals. Fortunately, Dan and Katie scored one each. The final score was 11 – 7 to Ladygrove. A fantastic win, completing the main season with an undefeated record – certainly a Ladygrove first! A magnificent team with a brilliant record. Thank you again to the parents for helping with transport, and for coming along and cheering us on. And a special thank you to Mrs Manthorpe who has given her own time to coach and manage the team throughout the year.
